our story

Our philosophy at the Original Pasty House is simple. Great tasting, freshly made food & drinks, a warm and welcoming atmosphere and excellent customer service.

The Original Pasty House, is an independent café which opened first  in the heart of Tavistock in 2003. We have been loved by the locals for over 18 years and in the summer of 2011 we opened our Plymouth shop and have been providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and a Traditional Cornish pasty ever since.

Owner Janet & Nigel take a very ‘hands on’ role in the running of the cafes and are always striving to improve our menus, interiors and service to match the needs of our customers.

As a business we feel very passionate about contributing to the local community. We feel it is very important for us to put something back into the areas in which we do business.

Our customers are incredibly loyal and wherever we can we try to help them with their fund raising activities by supplying raffle prizes or getting involved in other ways;

Through our Tavistock branch for example we raise money for St. Luke Hospice and Heartswell South West. We get involved with many of the national fund–raising events like Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need. Additionally this year we supported the ‘McMillan Biggest Coffee Morning in the World‘ in both shops.

Since opening our new Pasty House in Plymouth, we have been involved in numerous fund-raising activities organized by UPSU (University of Plymouth Students Union).

Additionally we have also supported the Prince’s Trust by providing food for students on educational retreats. Furthermore we are involved with Sheikina Mission providing food to their mission in Plymouth.
